decorative column Longchamp

The Longchamp racecourse is a 60 hectare horse-racing facility located in the Bois de Boulogn, next to Paris, France. That's where all the elegant and 'chic' Parisians gather during the 'Grand Prix' horse races. These are numerous, all over the season: the 'Prix du Jockey club', the 'Prix de Diane', the 'Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe'... All these constitute gathering opportunities for the french 'jet-set' and for those who orbit around then. It is the real 'place to be seen'. The construction of the racecourse and the surrounding buildings started in 1850 under Napoléon III.

Our 'Longchamp' model of decorative column is classical, stylish and traditional, but we deliberately added something special in its design, by provoking some form of asymmetry between the imposing base, and the somewhat 'light' capital.

It will constitute a beautiful embellishment for your project, be it an inside renovation or decoration work, or a an outdoor extension of your house. Cut to measure on demand, it is ideal for terraces and verandas, porches and arcades, verandas, canopies, pergolas and so on.

This column is both structural and architectural (thanks to the thick walls of its extruded aluminium shaft), but also ornamental and decorative. It can be delivered with a smooth shaft instead of the present fluted shaft. An authentic legacy work in cast aluminium, respectful of the tradition. All our products are shot-blasted before leaving the factory, which garantees a nice  finish after lacquering. Nobody can then tell the difference with an ancient column in cast iron or steel.

The cast components of this decorative and architectural column are all produced in our 60 years old sand-casting aluminium foundry in Belgium, with the ancient green-sand moulding technique. This decorative column is is a masterpiece of real ancient craftmanship at its best.
