Rainwater: can these columns be used for the evacuation of rain water?

Yes. In this case, the shaft will be used as an evacuation pipe. The installation method is somewhat special: it is such that the lower extremity of the shaft does not rest on the flooring, so as to leave sufficient space for connecting it with your plastic draining pipe (the assembly being hidden by the base). We have a drawing that explains this: just ask us.

Prices: how much do these columns cost?

Just ask us ( This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or +32 56 71 41 14)! We will send you our price-lists immediately.

Ordering: how can I place an order?

There are several possible ways. The first step is to decide what you need : you can

  • Choose the parts you need in our catalogue (download it from the front page of our website), or
  • Use the ‘configurator’ on our website (in ‘our products’) to design the column you want, and note the references of the parts that appear on the right side of your column (only for diameter 80mm), or
  • Choose a column out of our ‘assemblies’ in our website (in ‘our products)

And then you can

  • call us (+32 56 71 41 14), or
  • mail us (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.)

If you have received our price lists in Excel format you can also note on the adequate sheet what you need (so you will have a preliminary budget) and send us that per mail. In any case, we will return to you a final budget, including transportation costs plus any other cost elements depending upon what you need from us. Once we have received your approval on this final budget, we will start preparing the goods for their dispatch. We need approximately one week for that. Once we have received your payment (complete or partial, depending upon the case), we will dispatch the goods. After that, all depends upon where you are located… Since we ourselves produce all the elements of our catalogue in our aluminium foundry, all this process can go very quickly. We keep a stock of all the parts of our catalogue. Do not forget:

  • A price offer can always be modified should you so desire!
  • Please: always mention the total all-in height of the columns you need!

Production: where and how are these columns produced?

All the elements of these columns are in cast aluminium, so these columns only weigh one-third of cast iron columns. This means that they are much easier to handle and to install.

These elements are sand-cast in our aluminium foundry, located in Belgium. Please have a look at: www.dc-columns-pillars.com

Guarantee: what guarantee is given on these columns?

Since we only use premium-grade aluminium alloys, we offer a guarantee of 10 years on the elements of these columns, provided they are used in a normal way (as columns should be) and within the limits of their maximal admissible loads as specified by us upon demand.

Rust? Can aluminium rust?

No. What happens (with raw aluminium) is that after some time, the surface of the aluminium is covered with a very thin layer (a few microns thick) of aluminium oxide, also known as alumina (Al2O3).

This layer then acts as a protective coating, preventing a further corrosion of the metal. In fact you can barely notice the presence of this layer; it only changes the colour of the surface of the aluminium very, very slightly.

Is Aluminium expensive? How is it produced? Can it be recycled?

If you go to the website of our aluminium foundry www.aluminium-castings-declercq.com, and have a look into the section “newsletter”, you will have an exhaustive answer to these questions.
