decorative column ajaccio

Our 'Ajaccio' model is very similar to our 'Chambord' model of ornamental and decorative columns. This very classical cast column with a Mediterranean touch of charm is also composed of the same cast end-pieces of Corinthian inspiration as the our Chambord model, but with a fluted shaft instead of a smooth one. A very simple but quite elegant and authentic model of cast architectural and structural column, that will find its place in many environments: terraces, porches, balconies, verandas, pergolas, canopies, gazebos, arbours, arcades and so on. These decorative columns are also quite adequate for interior decoration and renovation projects.

This model can be cut to size on demand. It is largely used for decorative purposes in stylish interiors with high ceilings. This is real example of the European Classic style.

Ajaccio is a wealthy town on the central part of the west coast of Corsica. It was the first European town to be liberated by the US Army at the end of WWII. Its central area contains numerous very narrow and charming little streets and small cosy "places" or squares. Some details show that the initial constructions were largely inspired by the Italian 'Rinascimento' architecture. Ajaccio has a superb bay, at the end of which you can see the "Iles Sanguinaires". This constitutes a dramatic and splendid view at dawn or at sunset.

Ajaccio is also Napoléon's home town (in 1769). Originally a small fishermen's village, it became a town when it was taken over by the Genoese at the end of the XVth century. It was then nearly exclusively populated by Genoese; corsican natives that installed themselves in Ajaccio became automatically Genoese citizens. This lasted until Corsica became French territory in 1769.

Corsica is one of the most charming places in Europe for holydays. You can spend your day on the beach, and camp one hour later at more than 1.000 meters. On the beach, you will pay 3 € for a coffee, and 1.25 in the grandiose Corsican mountains. The inhabitants have the reputation of being somewhat rough, but this depends largely on how you want to be perceived.
